The Philippine Consulate attended a panel discussion on the future of AI, titled “Fast Forward to 2030: Will AI be a Friend or Foe” preceding the official opening of the Honorary Consulate of Estonia in San Francisco on 30 January 2025.
The discussion emphasized that the development of technologies in San Francisco is largely focused on improving the daily lives of people, such as self-driving vehicles and energy consumption. Startups drive innovations at the local level and the challenge is to harness the potential of AI in augmenting the existing workforce and contribute to efficiency in analyzing patterns and datasets. While AI technologies are expected to improve tremendously in the near future, there has to be sufficient means to ensure that these tools are not subject to abuse and fraud and appropriate regulatory laws should be developed to ensure the responsible and equitable use of AI.
