SF PH Consular Outreach Team visits Kalispell’s only Asian store

KALISPELL, MONTANA – The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco extended its consular outreach efforts with a special visit to Mabuhay Oriental Market, the only Asian grocery store in Kalispell, Montana, on August 20, 2025. Owned and operated by Filipino-American entrepreneur Glenda Malone, the store has become an essential resource for the local Asian and Filipino communities, and the greater population of the northwestern region of Montana.

The outreach team engaged with Malone and members of the Kalispell Filipino-American community to explore ways of further strengthening ties, addressing community concerns, and promoting Filipino culture and identity in the region.
“This visit is part of our ongoing mission to connect with Filipinos living in more remote areas in our jurisdiction,” said Consul Rowena Pangilinan-Daquipil, head of the outreach team. “We’re proud to see the entrepreneurial spirit of Filipinos thrive even in places like Kalispell, where representation matters.”
Mabuhay Oriental Market not only offers authentic Filipino and Asian products but also serves as a cultural touchstone for those seeking a taste of home. Malone, originally from Tayabas, Quezon, opened the store more than 20 years ago to bring comfort and community to fellow immigrants and locals alike.
The visit underscores the Consulate’s dedication to serving Filipino nationals across all parts of its wide jurisdiction and supports small businesses that embody Filipino values of resilience, hospitality, and cultural pride.
Mabuhay Oriental Market is located at 1097 US Highway 2 W, Kalispell, Montana.
