On July 28, 2025, Fil-Am Associate Professor Bobby Rimas was reelected as the Stonewall Democratic Club’s Vice President of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at a general membership meeting. In this position, Mr. Rimas will continue to be responsible for centering the Stonewall Democratic Club in all its activities and functions on diversity, equity and inclusion in the membership, leadership and through advocacy. Prior to Rimas serving as Vice President of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I), in 2023, he was appointed Chair of Stonewall Democratic Club’s DE&I Committee where he previously served as Vice Chair for two years and assisted with drafting the club’s DE&I website statement. In these positions, he coordinated and co-presented webinars regarding various DE&I topics.
The Stonewall Democratic Club is considered one of the largest Democratic Clubs in California. Since its founding in Los Angeles in 1975, the Stonewall Democratic Club has been the home for progressive Democrats who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and straight allies of the LGBTQ+ community. Stonewall is a grassroots non-profit political organization and is the first “Stonewall Democratic Club” in the United States established for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender individuals and straight allies committed to achieving equality for all and to advancing progressive and feminist values through the Democratic Party. The club endorses political races across the Greater Los Angeles Metropolitan Area, California and across the nation.
In addition to his role as an Associate Professor at California State University, Los Angeles, Mr. Rimas is an Adjunct Instructor for the University of La Verne and a Paralegal for a Los Angeles law firm that specializes in various civil litigation matters. He is the past chair and president of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Pilipino Alumni Association and past president of the Los Angeles Paralegal Association. Rimas graduated with a bachelor’s degree in history from UCLA, a master of legal studies degree, cum laude, with a concentration in compliance and legal risk management from the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law and a master of arts in education with a concentration in diversity, equity and social justice in education from The University of Texas at El Paso.
