DESCRIPTION: Join director and pro soccer player Reina Bonta and SOMA Pilipinas for a
special event on July 20! Enjoy an exclusive screening of her documentary short, Maybe It’s
Just the Rain – a powerful tribute to the Philippines’ historic FIFA World Cup debut and the
ancestors who made it possible. The film premiered to a sold-out crowd at the LA Asian Pacific Film Festival and recently screened at Cannes Marché Du Film.

- director Reina Bonta and her Lola, Cynthia Bonta

WHAT: A live KTSF presentation hosted by Henni Espinosa and KTSF host, Mina Li, with
Special Guest Regina Venzon.
DESCRIPTION: Wildfire risk has changed. Climate-driven weather whiplash is driving
increased wildfire risk for communities across the globe. Keeping customers safe and ensuring reliable service requires a new way of operating the electric grid system, novel safety measures and an increased focus on addressing risk and communicating with customers and stakeholders. Join us for a special event for the Filipino American communities to learn about wildfire safety efforts. You will hear about partnerships to support you, including PG&E’s bill assistant programs. More importantly, connect and share feedback with the PG&E team. Event will be conducted in Taglish.

Explore rarely seen photographs, oral histories, and digital archives that preserve the heart of Historic Manilatown.
1:00 pm Film Screening: The Fall of the I-Hotel
The landmark 1983 documentary by Curtis Choy—remastered and lovingly subtitled by MHF in 2022—chronicles the eviction that galvanized a movement.
3:00 pm Film Screening: Rise of the I-Hotel
Produced in 2005 by the Manilatown Heritage Foundation, this film reflects on the decades-long fight for justice and the rebirth of the I-Hotel.
5:00 pm Sneak Preview: Manilatown Manang
Our latest work-in-progress documentary features activist Jeanette Lazam, who returned to
live at the new I-Hotel Senior Residences in 2022, nearly 40 years after the eviction.
6:00 pm Candlelight Vigil
Gather with us to honor the tenants of the original International Hotel and commemorate their legacy of resistance and community.
