Elk Grove, CA – Sky River Casino’s Anniversary Concert Series concluded last weekend with a lineup featuring Filipino, Vietnamese, and Chinese performances. Over the course of three days, audiences were treated to performances that highlighted the diverse musical traditions of these regions.
On Friday, Odette Quesada opened the festival. The acclaimed Filipino singer-songwriter performed her well-known songs like “Till I Met You” and “Friend of Mine.” Her set, marked by a straightforward yet powerful delivery, drew on decades of Original Pilipino Music (OPM), allowing listeners to experience the essence of her career.
The stage shifted to Vietnam on Saturday, with performances from Hong Ngoc, Minh Tuyet, Lam Nhat Tien, and Khang Viet, accompanied by the Brothers Band. This event brought a mix of sentimental ballads and lively melodies. The audience responded enthusiastically, enjoying the smooth transitions between different styles, each artist bringing their distinct voice and presence to the night.
Sunday saw the festival close with Sylvia & Sandra in Concert. Known for their contributions to 1970s Cantonese music, both artists took the audience on a journey through classic hits. The concert, which paid tribute to Hong Kong’s beloved variety show Enjoy Yourself Tonight, had the crowd reminiscing, with Sylvia Lai and Sandra Lang delivering performances that honored their long-standing careers.
