Consul General Neil Ferrer received three paintings from Filipino visual artist Butch Paje of Filipino Creatives International at a ceremony at Sentro Rizal, the Consulate’s cultural hub, last April 1. The artworks feature Philippine heroes Dr. Jose Rizal and Apolinario Mabini, and Kalinga tattoo artist and culture bearer Whang-od.
Paje, who was formerly based in the Arabian Gulf state of Bahrain, previously donated some of his artworks to the Philippine Embassy in Manama. The signing of the Deed of Donation was witnessed by Deputy Consul General Maria Paz Cortes, Vice Consul Adrian Baccay, and Philippine Center Management Board Secretary Genevieve Ferrer.
Also joining the ceremony were Paje’s spouse Catherine, who is also a visual artist and a teacher based in Nevada, and Bay Area-based Catholic priest Father Peter Eugenio.
