When gout attacks, extreme pain usually lasts for days; sometimes weeks. Gout is the inflammation of the wrists, elbow, knees, ankle and often attacks the toes. This happens when there is excess uric acid that causes the accumulation of crystals in the joints. Chronic gout attacks may cause gouty arthritis, another type of serious arthritis. If left unchecked, your joints may deform; worse, lead to physical disability. Don’t let this happen. While there is no cure for gout, you can manage your condition the natural way.

● Cayenne Cream o Capsaicins Ointment: Good for inflammation and as remedy for reducing pain caused by gout. Apply on the affected area. Make sure to wash your hands before and after applying this cream as this is a little hot on the skin.

● Celery seed extract: This helps to reduce inflammation and excess uric acid, and also good as a relief to pain in the joints.

● Ginger: Has anti-inflammatory properties that helps to reduce gouty pain. Do this: Boil enough water with 1 tablespoon of crushed ginger. Soak a face towel in it. Apply the towel in the affected area once in a day for 15 to 30 minutes.

● Ice Pack: When you feel the pain, put ice bag on the affected joint, put the affected area up, and rest until you feel better.

● Turmeric: A superfood rich in curcumin that helps to fight inflammation and reduce the pain of gout attack. It also helps to reduce the uric acid in the body. Like Ginger, you may also boil Turmeric and apply it on the affected area.

Foods to limit or avoid:

  • Beef, lamb, pork, and bacon.
  • Liver, kidneys, and sweetbreads.
  • Anchovies, mussels, sardines, codfish, tuna, and scallops.
  • Beer and distilled liquors.
  • High-fructose corn syrup, sweetened beverages, and processed snacks.
  • Processed Foods high in unhealthy fats, sugars, and high-fructose corn syrup.

REMINDER: If you experience irritation, allergic reaction, skin redness, and other health concerns by using these natural remedies, stop it right away and immediately consult your doctor.
