AUSTIN, TEXAS (March 20, 2025) – Dubai’s Museum of the Future (MOTF), a visionary cultural institution dedicated to exploring the possibilities of tomorrow, made a historic debut at SXSW® 2025, captivating attendees with an immersive experience that invited over 25,000 visitors in just five days. As a flagship initiative of the  Dubai Future Foundation (DFF), MOTF serves as a global hub for science, technology, and innovation, inspiring humans to reimagine their technological and ethical fates. The Museum of the Future House, Dubai’s official SXSW headquarters, quickly became a must-visit festival destination, blossoming long lines first thing every morning to experience all the attractions and share them across social media.

“Our SXSW experience surpassed all expectations,” said Majed Al Mansoori, Executive Director of the Museum of the Future. “SXSW is one of the world’s most influential festivals for creativity, culture, and innovation. We are grateful for the warm reception and look forward to transforming these new connections into meaningful global collaborations.”

Hugh Forrest, President & Chief Programming Officer of SXSW, praised the Museum’s impact: “SXSW thrives on fresh and diverse perspectives from around the world. This year, Dubai’s Museum of the Future stood out, drawing massive crowds with its compelling mix of immersive storytelling and thought-provoking discussions from the UAE and beyond. I look forward to seeing them build on this participation in the future.”

The activations themselves included multi-sensory installations like Refik Anadol’s AI-driven “Earth Dreams”, a luminous exploration of humanity’s connection to nature through data-driven art. Dubai’s cultural offerings and cuisine were also platformed, like the Dubai chocolate bar from FIX Dessert Chocolatier, which were enjoyed by over 30,000 guests. Traditionally spiced chai from Project Chaiwala also gave attendees a soothing and revitalizing treat in the cool spring weather.

Key Panels & Discussions

The Museum of the Future offered several thought-leadership sessions, featuring 20 panels across a range of future-focused topics such as Lunar Exploration & Sustainability, The Future of Storytelling: A Middle Eastern Series, Food from the Dunes, and Nature Responds: Exploring AI’s Role in Human Dialogue.

Although a newcomer to the SXSW landscape, Dubai’s Museum of the Future has already made an electrifyingly dazzling impact, influencing the technology, culinary, and social media dialogues of the 2025 festival. Such a powerhouse of an experience is sure to be anticipated again for future SXSW iterations, with even more advancements in installations, art, food, and discussions to be introduced.
