SAN FRANCISCO – Philippine Consul General Neil Frank Ferrer congratulated Mayor Cameron Sasai, the first Filipino-American Mayor of Pinole City, California, during the inauguration ceremony held on January 18 at the Pinole Valley Performing Arts Theater.

In his message, Consul General Ferrer expressed his optimism on Mayor Sasai’s leadership and looks forward to working with the Mayor in providing consular services and assistance to the Filipino Community under his jurisdiction, to further enhance the cultural and people-to-people ties and foster the economic relations between the Philippines and the United States.

Mayor Sasai was sworn in by California Attorney General Rob Bonta, a fellow Fil-Am leader in California. Attorney General Bonta commended the works that Mayor Sasai has done in the City Council and expressed his optimism that he will make a difference in the City.

In his inaugural address, Mayor Sasai stated that he will prioritize the social and economic issues in the community, including environmental protection, housing, and downtown revitalization.
Mayor Sasai takes pride in his heritage and assures the community that Pinole will be a safe place, where rights will be protected and diversity is celebrated.
