VALLEJO, Calif. — The Vallejo City Unified School District (VCUSD) Board of Education held its Annual Organization Meeting on Wednesday night, marking a significant moment in the district’s governance. The meeting included the swearing-in of newly elected board member Dean Hodges and re-elected Trustee Dr. Latyna Young as they officially assumed their roles.
In addition to welcoming its new members, the Board nominated and confirmed leadership positions for the upcoming year. Trustee John Fox was selected as Board president, while Trustee Glenn Amboy will serve as vice president. Both leaders expressed their commitment to advancing the Board’s mission to serve students, families, and the broader Vallejo community.
Committee assignments were finalized, ensuring representation in key local and regional bodies. These appointments will enable the Board to strengthen partnerships and advocate effectively on behalf of the district.
The Board approved a schedule change for its regular meetings as part of the reorganization. Starting in 2025, meetings will move from Wednesday evenings to Thursday evenings, providing greater accessibility for the public to participate in discussions that shape the district’s future.
“This annual meeting is an opportunity for us to set the tone for the year ahead,” said VCUSD Board President Fox. “We are excited to welcome our new members and look forward to working together as a team to support student success.”
The Vallejo City Unified School District encourages the community to stay informed and engaged. The district’s website will provide updated meeting schedules, agendas, and additional details.
