PALO ALTO — The number 5 Washington Huskies remains undefeated following another near miss against what was supposed to be an overmatch opponent.
Stanford dominated possession time and ran 21 more offensive plays than their
counterpart. But at closing time, it was the Cardinals who couldn’t execute.
After interception, Stanford went for it on fourth-and-two from its own 28-yard line. But the toss to wide receiver Tiger Bachmeier, who threw a trick-play pass to wide-open Jayson Raines, dropped the pass.
Cardinal quarterback Ashton Daniels threw for 367 yards and a touchdown while adding 85 rushing yards and two more scores.
But the Washington offensive was enough to win the game.
