In a can’t-miss fusion of culinary prowess, Chef David Yoshimura of Nisei and Chef Harrison Cheney of Sons & Daughters, both distinguished recipients of the MICHELIN Guide CA Young Chef Award, are set to join forces for an unforgettable collaboration dinner. This exclusive event will take place at Nisei on Sunday, February 25, promising an evening of gastronomic innovation and culinary artistry.
On this magical evening, guests will be treated to a meticulously curated menu showcasing the individual styles of each chef, as well as collaborative dishes that epitomize their shared dedication to excellence. From Japanese Sweet Potato and Caviar crafted by Yoshimura to Cheney’s masterful Cured Mt. Lassen Trout with Blackberry Leaves and Preserved Tomato Oil, every course promises a symphony of flavors and textures.
“I’m thrilled to finally work alongside Harrison. I’ve admired his work for some time, and to me, there are a lot of similarities between his food and mine,” expresses Yoshimura. “I respect how deceptively simple his work looks, but after you try it, you can tell how much work and time goes into each dish.”
Reflecting on the upcoming collaboration, Cheney adds, “When I arrived back to San Francisco from Sweden in 2022, David received the Michelin CA Young Chef Award that year, and it was an inspiration to me. Since then, we’ve built a friendship and are looking forward to showcasing the parallels between Nordic and Japanese cuisine – both feature a certain sense of lightness in their dishes, purity of ingredients, and fermentation techniques. There will be an element of surprise in our menu.”
The Nisei x Sons & Daughters collaboration dinner will take place at Nisei’s charming location at 2316 Polk Street. The culinary journey begins at 5:00 p.m., with dinner priced at $275 per person. For those seeking to elevate their experience, optional wine pairings are available for $155. Reservations can be made through Tock, ensuring a seat at this extraordinary culinary affair.
