DALY CITY – The energy was electric as crowds began lining up as early as 5:30AM on July 31, to celebrate the highly anticipated grand opening of Seafood City Daly City, a bold new chapter for North America’s largest Filipino supermarket chain.

Located at 1420 Southgate Avenue, the store officially opened with a ceremonial ribbon cutting led by Seafood City Chairman Steve Go and his wife Pacita Go, alongside Philippine Consul General Neil Ferrer, Vice-mayor Glenn Sylvester, Daly City Councilwoman Juslyn Manalo, Silcore Managing Director Gerry Sy, and ABS-CBN Foundation Managing Director Lisa Cabahug.
Thousands of customers and community members turned out for a first look at the brand-new market and food hall, anchored in Filipino flavors, culture, and community pride.
“This new Seafood City in Daly City reflects the future we’re building, a proudly Filipino-owned space that honors our roots while growing with the next generation,” said Matthew Go, President of Seafood City.
“We’ve reimagined the experience with a vibrant food hall featuring Grill City, Bakers Avenue, Noodle Street, and Sizzle, alongside an expanded market filled with Filipino and Asian groceries, fresh seafood, meats, and produce. Through the SFC+ app, we’re giving our customers even more ways to save and feel rewarded. For us, it’s more than a store – it’s a community hub, a celebration of who we are, and a commitment to always uplift Filipino families here and beyond.”
The grand opening wasn’t just a launch; it was a cultural homecoming. Guests were welcomed with free gifts, exclusive deals like $1 Calrose rice for the first 200 customers, and truly a celebration of the community and Filipino heritage.

Inside, the new Food Hall brought bold, comforting flavors to life with dishes like bone marrow bulalo hotpot, sizzling pork sisig, bangus and tofu sisig, tapsilog and tocino breakfast plates, and fresh-baked favorites like pandesal, ensaymada, empanadas, and ube macapuno cake.
“Our new Food Hall at Daly City isn’t just a place to eat, it’s a celebration of Filipino culinary heritage,” said Marla Golucino, vice-president of Food Service. “We’ve curated a menu that brings bold Filipino flavors to the forefront — freshly made, thoughtfully served, and proudly Filipino.”
Customers also lined up to explore the SFC+ App, which allows users to collect points they can use to pay for groceries, order meals online, and send money to the Philippines via the in-app SFC+ Remit in partnership with BDO. Attendees who tried the new service received exclusive Seafood City vouchers as part of the opening promotion.
