PALO ALTO — First time Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) member Stanford missed a chance to make a statement when, leading with six minute left, the Cardinals reverted to last year’s form and lost to Texas Christian University (TCU), 34-27.
The Cardinals took a 24-20 lead with 6:57 remaining. But Stanford defense allowed TCU to go down the field and regain the lead. Josh Hoover completed all six of his passes for 67 yards, including a 4-yardTD pass with 3:13 to play that made it 27-24.
TCU dominated the statistics and scored the go-ahead touchdown with 3:13 left as it knocked off the Cardinals 34-27 at Stanford Stadium last August 30.
Stanford Cardinals coach Taylor gets another crack at his first home win when they face Cal Poly September 7 at 4pm.
