Yes, it’s silent. You just feel a bit uncomfortable. Then it goes away. You go on with your life without realizing you just had a heart attack.

A silent heart attack is an ordinary, common feeling of, “I feel a bit off” kind of thing — no scary chest pain or hard of breathing. Symptoms? Don’t ignore these signs:

Dizzy/nauseous. Your blood pressure might have spiraled down low that it’s hard for your heart to handle.

Discomfort around the chest area. If you’re feeling something in your chest which you cannot pinpoint for a few minutes and then it comes back, head to ER quick.

Heartburn/stomach pain. It might be that the blood stream are getting clogged for a possible damage to heart muscle.

Numbness around the shoulders and arms. If it doesn’t go away and you always feel fatigued even though you’re not doing anything tiring, call a doctor!

Pain in the jaw, nape, back. Even if the pain is tolerable, consult sa doctor who may ask you to undergo electrocardiogram or echocardiogram.

Snoring. This is a sign of sleep apnea, a sleep disorder in which breathing repeatedly stops and starts, that may lead to heart attack or stroke.

Cold sweats. This is a common symptom of a heart attack. One reason of cold sweats is the sudden drop of blood pressure.

Swollen leg, ankle, foot. A sign that the blood may not effectively pumping enough to the heart. This may also lead to irregular heartbeat.

LISTEN TO YOUR BODY. If you are feeling something off in your body which you cannot explain and doesn’t go away, consult a doctor. Remember, prevention is better than cure.
