SANTA CLARA — The San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy entered December 31’s highly anticipated clash against the Baltimore Ravens as the NFL MVP favorite but that rep was not earned Sunday night.
The 49ers much touted unstoppable offense due to their elite options didn’t happen. Baltimore managed to take most of them out of the game. Raven QB Lamar Jackson was just too hot for the 49ers in the second half.
The Ravens took a 16-12 lead into the halftime then outscored San Francisco 17-0 in the third quarter. Jackson outclassed Purdy.
The defense was relentless against Purdy. Other than McCaffrey, all the other 49ers star players were shut down until the finish.
