As the year came to a close, an incredible showcasing of Filipino culture is how San Francisco decided to round out 2023, all brimming within the Embarcadero’s Ferry Building. Taking place on Saturday, December 30, the Love The Philippines celebration was a free event that delivered an unforgettable experience for all.

Hosted by PH Tourism in America, along with SF Fashion, the event boasted an impressive lineup of Fil-Am artists that unleashed the festivities, creating an atmosphere filled with energy and excitement. Headlining the performances were CRSB & Adrian Marcel, DJ Umami, Drop N Harmony, One Vo1ce, and Elmer Abapo, each bringing their unique talents to the stage.

In addition to the musical extravaganza, attendees had the opportunity to indulge in a showcase of Filipino craftsmanship and entrepreneurship. The Love The Philippines celebration featured a diverse range of Filipino-owned vendors offering an array of goods, from handmade crafts to delectable culinary delights. Artisans such as Kumalma Candles, Hey Lay Handcrafted Goods, Studio Damili, Hulma Jewelers, and Arkipelago Books were present, allowing visitors to discover and support the rich tapestry of talent within the Filipino community. “I think it’s so important to have the representation in wearing our products. It’s a big statement and that’s the goal- more exposure,“ Jeana, the owner of Mie Makes, confidently describes while leading her popularly bustling booth.

Food enthusiasts were in for a treat as well, with renowned Filipino culinary establishments gracing the event. Renowned local eateries like Senor Sisig and Kokak Chocolates tantalized taste buds with their inventive, yet comforting offerings, providing a culinary journey that mirrored the diverse flavors of both the Philippines and the Bay Area.

A highly anticipated highlight of the evening was the luxuriously glamorous fashion show by pioneering Filipino designer Francis Libiran. Known for his exquisite creations that seamlessly blended traditional and contemporary aesthetics, Libiran’s showcase was a visual feast of vivid colors, striking textures, and honorable cultural homages. The fashion show filled the entire floor, captivating the audience with elegance, style, innovation, and chic nods to traditional history.

If the show wasn’t enough, the graceful and elegant presence of Miss Universe 2022 Winner R’Bonney Gabriel striding down the path in magnificent couture unequivocally cemented how sophisticated and glamorous this showcase of Filipino talents truly was.

The Love The Philippines celebration was not just a cultural gathering; it was a testament to the artistic, visionary, and committed spirit of the Filipino community in San Francisco. By bringing together talented artists, innovative vendors, and acclaimed designers, this celebration served as a platform to showcase the richness of Filipino culture and the creativity that thrives within the community.
