“Tayo na sa Antipolo, at doo’y maligo tayo, sa batis na kung tawagin ay hi hinulugang taktak!” (Come to Antipolo and there, let’s all dip in the stream waters of Hinulugang Taktak.)
That’s a famous song that introduces people to Antipolo. Less than an hour drive from Manila, Antipolo boasts Hinulugang Taktak, its Adventure Park managed by DENR (Department of Environment and Natural Resources) in collaboration with the Rizal provincial government and Antipolo government, in their efforts to make it a tourism
attraction. What is amazing is that entrance to the park is free. So, guests and visitors may also use its cottages and may enjoy unlimited swimming in its spacious pools without paying for anything. No wonder people flock to Antipolo to also enjoy the strong splashes of pristine waters of Hinulugang Taktak. Added attractions include the spider web platform, hanging bridge, and the wall climbing facility. Legend has it that the reason the splash of water at Hinulugang Taktak is so strong is that a huge church bell was dropped in its water.
Declared as a protected area because of its clean waters and lush plants and trees that surround the park, the place is well-maintained to fight adverse climate change and pollution in the area. Aside from Hinulugang Taktak, Antipolo is also well-known locally and internationally for its shrine, Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage or the Antipolo Cathedral. People flock to the Church not only to hear Mass, pray for their intentions, but also to have their vehicles blessed for a safe and accident-free rides.
Come to Antipolo and let’s have a picnic and enjoy its beauty!
