SANTA CLARA — The Bengals beat the 49ers, 31-17 last October 29 to hand San Francisco its third straight loss. It was their first loss at Levi’s Stadium in 12 games and they’re now second in the NFC West, behind Seattle.
Three turnovers by Brock Purdy played an obvious factor, especially interception on back-to-back throws that put a comeback on serious doubt.
With the turnovers and penalties, the 49ers offense was the same scoring machine that routed the Dallas Cowboys 42-10 in previous home game a month ago. This marked their third straight game, scoring 17 points.
The 49ers defense struggled at every level. They were unable to pressure Joe Burrow.
