The 3rd Annual Tony Aguilar Leadership Award ( TALA) was presented to the Reinares Family last December 13, 2024 during the Kaiser Permanente Filipino Association 30th Scholarship Banquet. TALA is awarded annually by the Aguilar Palomar family in loving memory of Tony Aguilar who was a dedicated community servant and longtime supporter of KPFA. Vicky Palomar, a nurse and a dedicated community servant herself, shared the meaning behind TALA: TALA is a guiding light, a beacon, a North Star, a symbol for us to stay true to our purpose and mission. TALA is for fathers like Tatay Tony Aguilar, who have left us and who remain in our hearts, and who will remain alive through the work that we do. TALA is a legacy to commemorate a father, a grandfather, a great grandfather by our family who wants to say “Thank You Tatay”.
This year, the TALA was bestowed upon the Reinares Family- Joey, Claire and their beautiful and amazing children: Frances (14), Jay (12), Chloe (10) and Kaylie (7) for their exemplary commitment to serving the church community of St. Augustine. The children were not just passive participants; they were enthusiastic contributors to the music ministry at such a young age. The family regularly participates in many church service activities.
It was clear that the Reinares family’s volunteer efforts had created a legacy of love, faith, and harmony that would resonate within the community for generations to come.
