SAN FRANCISCO – The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco joined the SF Tech Week event “Climate Resilience by Design: Opportunities in Deep Tech and AI to Mitigate Climate Risk” last October 8 in Kapwa Gardens, SOMA San Francisco. Various speakers from the Philippines shared their expert insights, which included ABS-CBN Foundation’s US Managing Director Lisa Cabahug, CEO and Founder of Talino Venture Studios Winston Damarillo, President and CEO of Chemonics Jamey Butcher, President De La Salle University Bro. Bernard Oca FSC, Department of Science and Technology Usec Sancho Mabborang and Asec Dr. Napoleon K. Juanillo Jr.
The discussion touched on key strategies like improving climate governance, investing in resilient infrastructure, and using renewable energy. Speakers also emphasized how fair policies and nonprofits can help empower vulnerable communities through climate justice and inclusive decision-making. The Philippines is highly vulnerable to climate risks such as typhoons and rising sea levels and can leverage AI and deep technology to enhance climate resilience and disaster management.
